Us oil barrel production
Annual U.S. crude oil production reached a record level of 10.96 million barrels per day (b/d) in 2018, 1.6 million b/d (17%) higher than 2017 levels. In December 2018, monthly U.S. crude oil production reached 11.96 million b/d, the highest monthly level of crude oil production in U.S. history. Production started to drop the very next month, in May. By September of 2016 US production stood at 8,534,000 bpd, a drop of 1,121,000 barrels per day. Oil production turned up after that because the price turned up. The fact that oil production is much higher today is a direct result of the price of oil increasing. Crude oil production quantities are estimated by state and summed to the PADD and the U.S. level. State production estimates reported by EIA are normally different from data reported by state agencies. For example, production estimates for Texas reported on table 26 are different from production reported by Concerns about the Permian led the EIA to downgrade its growth forecast for 2019 US oil production to 11.5 million barrels per day. For context, that still represents strong growth -- and would still top expected output from Russia and Saudi Arabia. The United States produced 9.4 million barrels per day in 2017. Oil production in the region peaked in 2009 at 1.56 million barrels a day, before declining for several years. However, output surged last year to 1.54 million barrels a day as several long-awaited projects came online.

United States crude oil production declined since reaching a smaller secondary production peak in 1988 (caused by Alaskan production), but increased again from 2009 to 2015. Total production of crude oil from 1970 through 2006 was 102 billion barrels (16.2 × 10 ^ 9 m 3), or roughly five and a half times the decline in proved reserves.

Values shown are in thousands of barrels produced per day. The current level of U.S. crude oil production as of March 2020 is 13,000.00 thousand barrels per day. U.S. crude oil production broke 10 million barrels a day in November for the first time since production peaked in 1970, at the start of a decades long decline. The U.S. is the world's third US Oil Production measures the daily number of barrels produced in the United States in oil fields. The numbers, released by the EIA, can give an idea of the total supply of oil available in the US. Historically, crude oil production had been declining in the US in the 80s and 90s, but began a precipitous rise in 2010-2018 due to new methods in extracting oil like hydraulic fracturing.
